1. God’s love looks on the heart
And not upon our face
It does not ask for wealth
It warms like an embrace.

It prepares hearts for good
It softens bits of stone.
Its speech is understood
Its voice is simply known.

2. God’s love looks on the mind
And not upon the frame
It smiles on the kind
And warms them like a flame.

It invigorates all,
It fills us with vision,
It lifts us when we fall,
It guides each decision.

3. God’s love looks on the soul
And not what holds it here.
Its touch can those console
Who tremble, sick with fear.

It is a sure resort,
It anchors in the waves,
It offers firm support,
It every creature saves.
