An original hymn with text by Kathryn Hales below.  Watch on YouTube: One of the Ninety and Nine

I am one of the ninety and nine;

I did not go to the desert to pine;

I followed the Master, and stayed in the pasture,

When He went out the lost sheep to find.

The Good Shepherd gently calls my name,

Though I’m not one of wealth or fame,

Just common stock, just one of the flock,

One of the faithful who steadfast remained.

There’s no celebration for me coming ‘round,

Like the black sheep who with diligence was found;

I’ve been loyal and true, valiantly obedient to

My Master’s teachings profound.

Still the Shepherd says “You are mine,”

In a voice so gentle and kind,

So loyal I’ll be for all eternity,

One of the faithful nine and nine.
