YouTube video: I Was Not There, hymn
Text:
I was not there in the Garden that day.
I was not there when dear Jesus prayed.
I was not there when God heard his Son cry,
“Remove this cup; must I freely comply?”
I was not there when He anguished in pain.
I was not there to view unjust shame.
I was not there when He paid for my sins,
Yet with repentance I’ll still live with Him.
I was not there when Christ gifted all men.
I was not there to see angels then.
I was not there when He trembled for hours,
But I can witness his pure, holy power.
I was not there when Christ suffered for me;
I was not there in Gethsemane.
I was not there when He died on the cross,
Yet for his gift I would ever be lost.
I was not there when love dripped from His pores,
But I can share His great love evermore.
