"I Can Carry God’s Light", composed by Kevin G. Pace with text by Mary Ann W. Snowball, is a reverent, sacred hymn that reflects on Jesus’ parable of the ten virgins, taught during Tuesday of Holy Week. Through gentle melody and heartfelt lyrics, the piece emphasizes spiritual readiness and the daily pursuit of divine light. The text draws a clear contrast between those who were prepared and those who were not, offering a personal resolution in the final lines—encouraging each of us to carry God’s light and be ready to receive Christ. It is both a reflection on scripture and a call to faithful living.

Text:
Jesus taught in parables, teachings that are true.
Some would understand them, but others never knew.
Once he told of ten pure souls needing lamps to see.
Lamps with oil burning bright was their constant need.
All ten carried lamps each day, but just five prepared
With sufficient oil there; five had none to spare.
So they could not see the Christ when He came at night.
Jesus shows we’ll know Him best when we have His light.
I can carry God’s pure light ev’ry single day.
I can be prepared for Him when He comes to stay.
