While Jesus dined in Bethany, a woman who He knew
Brought some precious ointment there. It cost a lot, it’s true.
Some people thought it should not be anointing for his head,
But Jesus said she brought a gift filled with love instead.

They thought the money used for oil could all be for the poor.
Jesus taught them carefully what sacrifice was for.
He taught that giving with great love was worth the purest price,
And I can also serve this way; I can sacrifice.
