Like firstborn lambs which would be slain, each one to shed pure blood,
These firstlings out of Israel's flocks foreshadowed God's own Son.
These perfect lambs would be like Christa sacrifice made great,
To illustrate our Father's plan, and given for our sakes.

Like water as a sacrament defining ritual grace,
Pure blood would flow from lamb's new life, and from our Savior's face.
From ev'ry pore, like drops of rain, would crimson blood fall free.
With pain so deep for ev'ry sin, Christ suffered willingly.

Like crusts of bread the flesh would tear on lambs and Jesus' flesh.
This token of an offering is how our Lord could bless.
Christ's readiness to die for all would serve to pay a debt
He would become our Savior and our Lord who God would send.

Behold the Lamb of God, this Son of heaven and of earth.
This witness of his love conveys to all their endless worth.
Behold his love, He comes to save; our hearts are filled with awe.
Behold these emblems of his love. Behold the Lamb of God!
