1. No human heart can know
Nor mind can comprehend
The aid God does bestow
The grace that He does lend.

We often sell as chance
The workings of His hand.
Each happy circumstance
We scarcely understand

The care our Father gives
To each beloved child
Each moment that He lives
His love is undefiled.

2. So softly comes His aid
We may not recognize
When His help is displayed
Though He does not disguise

His voice to those who hear
His hand to those who see,
If we but tune our ear
And keep our vision free,

He shines like subtle beams
That light our mortal course:
We are swift flowing streams
And He the holy source.

3. What gratitude we feel
With every breath of air!
Our Father’s aid is real
And pure beyond compare.

Our humble gifts, though few
Must for a time suffice:
All that we now can do
Must be our meager price.
