- A sacred Easter hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mary Ann Snowball. The text is in reference to the story of Peter who denies Jesus Christ three times. YouTube video: Yet Will I Never DenySee text below:
At the Last Supper, Jesus said to his disciples there placed,
“This night, offended ye shall be, even with my constant grace.”
Then Peter’s words rang through the air: “Yet will I never deny.
Others may speak confirmed offense, yet will I never deny.”
Jesus replied to him direct, “This time I say unto thee:
Thou shalt deny me thrice this night, ere the cock crow this shall be.”
All the disciples said the same. Peter’s sure heart was so firm.
“Though I should die with Thee, O Lord, I won’t deny, you will learn.”
Soon on that night was Caiaphas, with many rivals to meet.
Peter was asked, “Were you not one with Jesus out on the street?”
“I know not what thou sayest now.” Then two more times just the same.
“I do not know that carpenter. I was not his when He came.”
Before the sun awakened there, Peter had wept bitterly.
Three times denied Christ whom he loved, three times his guilt shown to be.
In my own life, can I be sure I will not also succumb?
Deep in my heart each day I live, will He be my saving One?
Will I deny, when asked of Him, Jesus, my Savior and King?
Will I forsake his precious life, or to his glory still sing?
Will I pledge all I have to Him, can I promise ‘til I die,
Of my sure witness and reply, “No, I will never deny.”
