I seek Your heavenly light,

But today Your face is hidden;

I search the confusing darkness,

Then come these words unbidden,

The voice is oh, so clear,

Words I didn’t want to hear,

“Sometimes faith grows only in the rain.”

Like a seed that’s planted

In the ground so dark and dry,

Then draws its strength from moistened soil

Before sprouting, reaching for the sky,

“Please send Your Living Water,”

Come the words from sons and daughters,

For sometimes faith grows only in the rain.

His words promise, “Seek and ye shall find,”

If my heart’s desires are still unfeigned,

So I’ll work with patient effort,

That my search be not in vain,

From darkness into light,

My faith leads me to paths of right,

Growing stronger, stronger in the rain.
