A missionary homecoming hymn with text by Kathryn Hales below.
Watch on YouTube: Welcome Home, sacred hymn
Welcome home, good and faithful servant,
Welcome back to the arms of family’s love,
For two long years (eighteen months) you’ve labored
In faith to serve the Lord above.
Through dusty roads or city’s grime,
You’ve knocked on doors untold,
Or met in streets or homes or parks
Sharing the greatest message ever told.
Some days you’ve been discouraged,
Some days you’ve wanted to quit,
But the love of the Savior and all mankind
Made you know you couldn’t do it.
So you labored through sunshine and storm,
Persevering hour by hour,
Knowing the Spirit could guide you
Through its marvelous power.
Though your mission is over,
Days of service have just begun,
Bringing souls unto the Father,
Through Jesus Christ, His Son.
And so we’ll serve throughout our lives
That someday we’ll hear Him say
Well done, good and faithful servant,
Enter into my joy to stay.
