An original hymn with text by Mark Fotheringham below. Watch on YouTube: Lovest Thou Me?
"Lovest thou me more than these?" inquired the Lord.
Peter replied, "Thou knowest that I do."
He had vowed to follow Him, serving all his days.
Jesus thus reminded him, "Feed my lambs."
"Lovest thou me?" Jesus asked it once again.
With the same words, the answer was professed.
Called to leave his sailor's life, called to fish for men,
Peter heard again the call, "Feed my sheep."
"Lovest thou me?" still a third time Jesus asked.
"Knowing all things, Thou knowest that I do."
Peter thrice had Christ denied; Thrice he now confessed.
Thrice the Lord commanded him, "Feed my sheep."
"Lovest thou me?" now His question is for us.
Lightly professed, our love we too confess.
Deeds will e’er be proof of love; work to lift and serve.
Hear His Word which calls to us, "Feed my sheep."
