Text:
A man of sorrows acquainted with grief,
That from sin we might find relief.
He was despised, rejected of men,
That through His love we could live again.

He carried our griefs, our sorrows borne,
That through His grace we can be reborn.
He was wounded for our transgression,
That we might strive for His perfection.

He was forsaken, left all alone,
That we might approach the heav’nly throne
For our iniquities he was bruised,
That from bondage we might be loosed.

Smitten and oppressed, He spoke not a word,
That we might know that He understood.
With His stripes we all might be healed,
That His love we mercif’lly feel.

A man of sorrows, rejected, forlorn,
That we might never feel alone.
By His suffering all mankind is saved
From sin’s dark hell and death’s cold grave.

Chorus:
With rejoicing and singing we gladly proclaim,
Messiah, Messiah, Jesus Christ is His name.
With rejoicing and singing we gladly proclaim,
Messiah, Messiah, Jesus Christ is His name.
