A bold, sacred hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mark R. Fotheringham.

YouTube video: The Spirit, hymn

Text:
The children of God spread far ‘cross the earth,
Confounded in speech, in conflict from birth.
All turmoil and trouble from ev’ry cause can cease.
The Spirit can lead all to live in love and peace.

The Spirit of God helps each look within
To see in the Christ a way back from sin.
Atonement brings mercy, the Spirit testifies,
And through sweet repentance, all justice satisfies.

In sorrow or pain, when misfortune clings,
The Comforter comes with hope in his wings.
The promise of Jesus, who walked the path of pain,
To send forth the Spirit will never be in vain.

By taking the sword of Spirit as guide,
And Jesus to lead across each divide,
The sons and the daughters of Jesus will prevail
And come forth in glory. The Spirit shall not fail.
