Whether in the dark of night or in light of day,

Fear can grasp a waning heart, coaxing more to stay.

Like the disappearing warmth from a candle’s glow,

Fear that dims the Savior’s love veils this vow to know:

Be not afraid, O be not afraid. I am thy rescue; Be not afraid.

Take hold my hand and trust with thy might.  

Soon I will be in thy constant sight.

Whether false or presupposed, or sensed to be true,

Fear can grip a frenzied mind when a thought is new.

Like a weed in garden’s sight, begging to belong,

Views that mask the Savior’s face won’t discern this song:

Be not afraid, O be not afraid. I am thy rescue; Be not afraid.

Take hold my hand and trust with thy might.

Soon I will be in thy constant sight.

Whether old or young in age, praying to be free,

Fear can hold a sinful soul, causing hope to flee.

With this heavy, lonely load seeking liberty,

Jesus is the only One (pr)offering his plea:

Be not afraid, O be not afraid. I am thy rescue; Be not afraid.

Take hold my hand and trust with thy might.

Soon I will be in thy constant sight.
