Text:
Though trial and heartbreak through famine and loss,
Naomi was valiant and furthered God’s cause.
The death of her husband and two valiant sons
Would bring her deep sorrow . . . and begging for crumbs.
She called herself Mara, so saddened was she.
Her God had dealt harshly . . . a widow she’d be.
To live all alone with no way to provide,
She’d go to her homeland with none by her side.
But Ruth stepped beside her, so loyal and true,
And vowed to be with her in ways she ne'er knew.
Naomi’s one kinsman was Boaz by name,
Who chose to wed Ruth and to shield any shame.
That union and marriage produced one fine son.
Then Obed was father to David, the one
Through Christ would claim lineage in that royal line.
Naomi’s own trials with God’s goals aligned.
O, Ruth was so loyal, and God’s ways were gifts
That only a daughter-in-law begged to lift.
Naomi’s lone life was then blessed with relief . . .
For only her God could relieve her sure grief.
