Text:
“Lord, if Thou hadst been here, our brother had not died,”
Pled the anxious Martha, and Mary by her side.
Lazarus, their brother, had passed beyond the veil.
Jesus waited two whole days to bless them with His care.
Finally He hearkened; to Bethany He went.
Knowing of their sorrow, with them He meekly wept.
“Lazarus, thy brother, shall surely rise again.
Though he’s dead, he’ll resurrect just like all mortal men.”
Asking then of Martha, “Believest thou these words?”
“Yea, my Lord,” she speaketh, her knowledge never blurred.
Lazarus, their brother, did rise that very day—
Resurrected early (fully) through our Savior’s willing grace.
Whether two or more days, our Lord achieves His will.
Giving us His wisdom, He asks us to be still.
When things seem unlikely—impossible to be—
We can trust His loving care if we can just believe.
We can trust our Savior’s care when we just believe.
