My journey to Jerusalem comes with daily toil.
Trudging up the mountainside, dangers may embroil.
Who will give protection, keeping me from harm?
My Lord made the heav’n and earth; He’s my holy arm.

I’ll lift mine eyes unto the hills, seeking God’s pure aid.
He is always watching o’er; I’ll not be afraid.
He will never slumber; He will never sleep.
But He will preserve my soul; I am in his keep.

Sun’s rays shall not smite me by day, nor the moon by night.
He who keepeth Israel keeps me in his sight.
My Lord is my keeper; my Lord is my shade.
Even in the darkest night, his watch never fades.
