Text:
A wounded man lay on the road,
Stripped of hope, in pain and fear;
The world passed by with hurried steps,
Yet no one stopped to show they cared.
A priest walked past, his eyes cast down;
A Levite followed, same retreat.
They knew the law, they spoke its truth,
Yet mercy never moved their feet.
Then came a stranger, cast aside,
One scorned by name and judged by face;
He saw the pain, he felt the need,
And stopped, compelled by humble grace.
He bound the wounds with gentle care,
Poured oil and wine where blood was shed;
He placed the man upon his beast
And walked beside the road ahead.
At dawn he paid the cost of care,
And pledged to give if more was due;
For love asks not, “Does this belong?”
But, “How can I make broken things strong?”
So love is proven on the road
When mercy guides the willing heart;
A neighbor is the one who stops
And chooses love when others part.
So Christ our Lord still walks with those
Who fall beneath life’s heavy load;
When darkness comes and fear draws near,
He lifts, He heals, and bears our load.
