Forgive them, Father. Please forgive. I will set them free,

Though they cannot now discern why I suffer on this tree.

Forgive them, Father, in their faults. Someday they will know

Why I did not save Myself, but for them this gift bestowed.

Forgive them of this grievous act as they mock my name.

My spent body throbs with pain, yet the reason why I came.

Excuse them, Father; pardon all. Give their crimes to Me,

For they know not what they do, but their Savior I will be.

I am suff’ring for their sins; I’m the One so (Thou) called.

Please forgive their evil deeds. Share my love for all.  

Forgive them, Father. Please forgive men of ev’ry creed.

Lead each human heart to know how, this day, they can be free.

Forgive them, Father. I am here in unearthly pain!

Mercy proves my Godly love for their greatest gain.

I am suff’ring for their sins; I’m the One so (Thou) called.

Please forgive all men their flaws. My love conquers all!
