My little son, with his scars, is asleep . . .
his spirit so live and unique.
There’s transcending light which shines upon his face.
He is perfect in God’s sure embrace.

Another dear Child, O, Mary’s pure Son,
has also light just like the sun.
His scars received with pain in His face
do now show suff’ring love through His grace.

To suffer, my son . . . O, can I watch with God’s peace,
knowing so clearly His care will increase?
Like faithful Mary who nurtured her Son,
can I so trust with my own little one?

When I know God’s care, I’ll remember Christ’s love so rare.
My little son, with these scars he will keep,
shows a humility I seek.
O, as I struggle to be just like him,

I can feel God’s peace from within.
