An original hymn with text by Mark Fotheringham below. Watch on YouTube: More Than Treasure Refined
Blessed by those who have gone before,
Thankfully we recall
Acts of service and sacrifice,
Those who offered their all.
Scarcely ever can we repay
Service rendered so dear.
We will live, so to honor them,
Lives of goodness and cheer.
Emulation is praise enough.
Good men ask for no more.
As we follow the path they trod,
Honor follows them sure.
One day we too shall find the grave.
What shall we leave behind?
Sacrifice is remembered more,
More than treasure refined.
Turn our hearts to our fathers Lord
Help us know of their love,
Seek them out from the dust of time
As they wait up above.
Help us find them and speak their names
In Thy House on the earth,
Bursting bands that would bind them down;
Glorious in rebirth.
