A sacred hymn inspired by Helaman chapter 7 from The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Music by Kevin G. Pace. Text by Mark R. Fotheringham.
YouTube video: Nephi's Lament, hymn
Text:
Why will ye die, ye beloved of God,
Who once were His people, whose ways ye have trod.
Turn ye from evil and cry for forgiveness
From One who'll redeem thee, from all worldly fraud.
Seek ye for Jesus and turn ye from sin.
His arm is sufficient to hold thee again.
Ye who have known of God's blessings and love
So soon have forgotten they come from above.
Now thieves and robbers are set as thy rulers,
Who love only power and riches thereof.
Seek ye for Jesus and turn ye from sin.
His arm is sufficient to hold thee again.
Why do ye marvel, oh why will ye die?
Thy souls are surrendered yet still you deny.
Can ye not see that thy pride will bring peril?
Provoke not the One who still rules from the sky.
Seek ye for Jesus and turn ye from sin.
His arm is sufficient to hold thee again.
