He's trodden the wine press alone,
His feet stained with all our trespass and sin.
They were battered and bruised by his suffering,
Making mercy and justice complete.

His blood oozed from all of His pores,
As the juice oozed from the fruit of the grape.
He has trodden the wine press alone; alone,
Unlocking death's foreboding gate.

He is our God's Beloved Son,
But He trod the deep wine vat alone.
The juice is a symbol of His own blood
As for each mortal He did atone.

When Christ comes to earth in His glory,
His garment will be colored dark red,
Stained with the blood and sins of mankind,
As if in the wine press He had tread.

He's trodden the wine press alone; all alone,
That for all mankind He might atone.
