A beautiful, sacred hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mary Ann W. Snowball.
YouTube video: New Breath, hymn
Text:
O Lord, my God, creator of my soul,
In this new sphere, thy voice I hear.
From dust I come . . . like breath in Eden’s garden.
I see Eve’s face light up this holy place.
O Lord, my God, I’ve eaten of this fruit.
My eyes are blind; I cannot find
Thy face . . . it’s gone, forbidden from my viewing.
I hide myself in this uncertain realm.
O Lord, my God, I now can sense thy cries.
Thou kneels alone for my own soul.
On Calvary thy death confirms to all men
Thy selfless choice will cause all to rejoice.
O Lord, my God, thy sacrifice endures,
And brings new breath from heav’ns depths.
Thy gift to me is more than I can fathom.
From thy own death, I have eternal breath.
