Why, when the morn awakens me,
And my children await with pressing needs,
Do I open up my scriptures,
And Thy holy word first read?
Why, when ev'nings rest still beckons me,
Do I kneel in thanks to pray
For granted strength to perform my labors
With honesty that day?

Why, when the bills are mounting,
And money is being spread so thin,
Do I pay an offering in full,
To show God I remember Him?

Why do I give so much of time
To serve in callings so demanding?

The Lord Jesus is the "why"
I choose to follow and obey.
To sacrifice and bend the knee
For Lord Jesus shows the way.
