In the day of my trouble and into the night
There was no comfort . . . no comfort in sight.
I complained and my spirit refused peace to seek.
I was so troubled that I could not speak.

Will the Lord cast forever his promise to be
Gracious in mercy and favor to me?
Does my God in his anger desire to flee
Far from my trial and infirmity?

O, but I will consider his wonders of past . . .
Works of his right hand that ever will last.
I will talk of his doings and strength all his days.
My meditations will honor his ways.

O, then I will remember from more ancient times
How He led Israel in far distant climes.
He redeemed sons of Jacob and Joseph of old.
Though I was troubled, God’s hand I’ll behold.

I will remember the works of the Lord.
I will remember and gain his reward.
