Of all the women to be, sweet Mary was the one
To give birth upon the earth to God’s most holy Son.
For Gabriel had proclaimed, she was the virgin named
As the Father’s holy choice to mother who He claimed.
Mary was the chosen one to bear God’s holy Son.

Yet Mary said unto him: O, how can this be true?
Seeing I know not a man, how will this come to view?
The angel spake unto her: The Holy Ghost shall come
Bringing power from on high. O, ye shall bear God’s Son.
Mary was the chosen one to bear God’s holy Son.

Instead of seeking a sign, young Mary then concurred:
Be it unto me to do according to thy word.
O, humble Mary was true unto the God she knew.
As the Father’s chosen one, she trusted Him like few.
Mary was the chosen one to bear God’s holy Son.
