A hymn parody.  This was written tongue-in-cheek, just poking fun at ourselves.  This is not serious.  It is just for fun.  Composer: Kevin G. Pace.  Text: Mark R. Fotheringham, Joshua A. Pace

YouTube video: Bishop's Lament, SATB version

Text:

1. I dread to sing on Sundays,

The songs in the hymn book are lame.

Whichever ones are chosen,

To me they all sound just the same.

I dread to sing on Sundays.

The chorister waves a slow hand.

These counselors sitting beside me

Are tone deaf up here on the stand.

2. It's way too warm this morning,

The thermostat broke late last night,

I can't keep my eyes open,

Please someone awake me, all right?

I fear I may start drooling

Or worse yet, I'll audibly snore,

Oh, curses to that blasted furnace,

Please speaker don't be such a bore.

3. So many children crying

It sounds like a room full of apes.

Their parents try to herd them

And keep them from making escapes.

I think I see a runner.

He’s trying to make for the door.

My wife’s getting up now to chase him.

My kid is a sprinter for sure.
