Destruction cried out, then darkness obeyed;

No sliver of light was displayed.

Etched scorn and pure shame detained rays of sun;

Sure death of the Savior was won!

Sweet Jesus had bravely succumbed.

Three days in the tomb, then victory reigned—

Our Savior came forth without pain!
