1. O great and holy Gardener,


Remove my bitter thorn! 


Prune back the prideful branches,


Pluck out the weeds of scorn.

I pray that Thou wilt nourish 


My roots with tender care,


And bless my blooms to flourish 


The sweetest fruit to bear.

2. O great and holy Shepherd 


Come seek me when I roam. 


When straying, stay beside me,


And guide me gently home.

Direct to pastures thriving, 


Where I may drink and feast, 


And fight with me when striving, 


Against each deadly beast.

As a physician sent, 


Forgive my wrong behavior


Each time that I repent.

From sickness and from weakness 


Be Thou my balm and cure. 


Repair my heart in meekness 


Until I too am pure.

Purge my impurity.
